Department of Training and Professional Development at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized an important workshop for the university employees on electronic archiving.  It was presented by the trainer, Omar Khadr, who said that archive is a process of preserving human product and it is like a savior, indicating that there is a misconception that electronic archiving can abolish the paper one, as the latter cannot be dispensed with the anticipation of any circumstances that might occur. Therefore, the paper archiving is considered the basis.

He revealed that the aim of the workshop is to support trainees  acquire practical skills for applying the electronic archiving system, as people tend to use digitization in office work, adding that there is no company that carries out its work alone, but rather it must seek the help of other institutions, and therefore means of communication must be available, pointing out to the importance of integration for reducing cost and effort together, and the need for computers that facilitate the work of archiving does not have to be expensive and that the harmony of employees accomplishes a lot of work for the organization through unifying programs that facilitate communication.

The trainer also indicated that the work currently needs expertise because the world fast paced adding that high competencies are required, especially those that are compatible with technology, in order to perform the work professionally as to prevent loss for the institution.  As for safety it is of concern for quality departments in any institution, saying that any paper containing information is considered important and we call it a document. Therefore, archive is a set of documents in any administrative unit of a company or university and has administrative, financial or legal importance, as the French are considered the first to be interested in the archives; the documents were previously kept in the church or with the king. It is to be noted that UST Training Department had organized the workshop that last next Thursday, supervised by Ms. Mawaddah Abdel Razek, Executive Director of the Training Department, and was attended by a number of employees at the Computer Center in the Engineering Complex.
